This is the epitaph on the Monument to the Heroes of the People drafted by Comrade Mao Zedong and written by Comrade Zhou Enlai on behalf of the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Beijing, China on the 30th of September, 1949. It was first published in Renmin Ribao (1st of October, 1949).
